More about me

My name is Amanda Piekstra Jara, and I am a Mental Health Counseling Intern based in Florida, currently pursuing a master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and Wellness at New York University. I work with adults, teenagers, adolescents, and children, to support their mental health and overall well-being.

In our therapeutic sessions, I provide a non-judgmental space where we explore your goals and what you hope to accomplish throughout treatment. I am committed to combating mental health stigma and integrating approaches that meet your specific needs. Whether you are navigating trauma, PTSD, stress, depression, anxiety, eating disorders, suicidal ideation, family dynamics, or social anxiety, I’m here to support your journey towards coping and progress.

I primarily use a Cognitive Behavioral approach while assessing whether a Psychodynamic orientation, Narrative Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, or trauma-informed techniques can best support you in achieving your treatment goals. Services offered range from Individual Therapy, Couples or Family Therapy, and Group Therapy. I also incorporate holistic wellness techniques, such as art, play, and music therapy, into my practice.

I am fluent in Spanish and offer sessions in person or via telehealth, prioritizing the client-therapist relationship to build trust and rapport. Together, we will work on enhancing your self-compassion, emotional regulation, and personal growth. If you are ready to engage in the therapeutic process, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
